Rochelle, IL, June 24, 2020Selected to distribute $100,000.00 from the Illinois COVID-19 Response Fund (ilcovidresponsefund.org), The Rochelle Area Community Foundation is pleased to announce grant awards to nonprofit organizations across Ogle County assisting those affected by the social and economic implications of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Intended to quickly respond to basic needs such as emergency food and supplies, housing and emergency shelter, health and mental health care services, short term rent, mortgage and utility assistance with a focus on vulnerable populations, the Rochelle Area Community Foundation approved $100,000.00 in grants to thirteen local organizations.

• Rochelle Christian Food Pantry awarded $15,000.00 toward a walk-in refrigerator and freezer to increase their capacity to serve the community.

• Lifescape Community Services awarded $10,000.00 to meet the increased need for meals on wheels in Ogle County.

• Easter Seals awarded $2,000.00 to respond to emergency needs of Ogle County residents served by Easter Seals of Metropolitan Chicago.

• Sinnissippi Centers awarded $5,000.00 to support the needs of individuals with serious mental illness residing at Fairview Apartments.

• Village of Progress awarded $8,000.00 to assist with care packages for their clients while services are interrupted.

• Rochelle Rescue Mission awarded $3,000.00 to assist with essential needs of vulnerable populations within Ogle County.

• Farmworker and Landscaper Advocacy Project (FLAP) awarded $7,500.00 to provide direct assistance to Latino and immigrant populations affected by the pandemic throughout Ogle County.

• Kitchen Table awarded $10,000.00 for emergency food and supplies to provide take and bake meals.

• Northern Illinois Food Bank awarded $3,600.00 to provide mobile food pantries in underserved areas of Ogle County.

• Hub City Senior Center in partnership with Rochelle Rescue Mission and Rochelle United Methodist Church awarded $10,000.00 to assist with utility bills.

• HOPE of Ogle County awarded $6,000.00 to provide basic needs for those affected by domestic violence.

• Believe in the Children awarded $6,000.00 to assist with basic needs for children and families in the western areas of Ogle County.

• 4-C Community Coordinated Child Care awarded $13,900.00 for direct assistance to licensed Ogle County childcare providers whose services are impacted by the pandemic.

Local nonprofit organizations made a very collaborative effort in applying for the funds to ensure a broad cross section of the County was served by the grant”, said Kim Montgomery, Executive Director for the Rochelle Area Community Foundation. “This process reinforced for us the importance of being local and advocating for our communities.”
